The Dell Studio 17 Touch is a 17-inch laptop that has been designed more for its touchscreen display than as a desktop replacement unit or multimedia laptop. This is evident from the laptop’s large 17.3 inch display that offers multi-touch capabilities. This means you can click, edit, zoom and select without having to use the track-pad or keyboard at all. Everything is accessible from the screen, either through a pinch, a double finger rotation or similar gesture.
While the Dell Studio 17 Touch does weigh about as much as other touchscreen all-in-one desktops at around 7 pounds, it incorporates the 17.3 inch screen with a laptop’s chassis. This means the screen can be closed, protecting the sensitive screen from the elements and making the location you’ve placed it neater. The laptop runs on an Intel dual core T4300 processor with 3GB of DDR3 memory. While the 17.3 inch screen does offer a 1600 x 900 pixel resolution it is limited by the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics so 720p HD movies might be a bit of a stretch for the system. However, the Dell Studio 17 Touch does offer a DVD/CD dual layer combo drive so you can watch DVDs and other disc media while connecting via the 802.11g wi-fi connectivity. Making the most of everything is the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.
All in all, the Dell Studio 17 Touch is a great touchscreen laptop for the kitchen and home as well as the presentation room as it incorporates the best of multi-touch touchscreen systems with a portable laptop chassis. While it isn’t powerful enough to do high-end gaming or watch HD movies its flexibility allows it to offer plenty of functions in one go. Since it is a Dell system expect the laptop to come with a very affordable price tag along with excellent after-sales service.

Oprah graces mag staffers with iPads, $10K checks – Yahoo! News
Oprah Winfrey, who once famously gave away new cars to every member of her studio audience, showed off that generous side to staffers at her magazine yesterday.
Advertising Age reports that Winfrey celebrated the 10th anniversary of “O, The Oprah Magazine” by stopping by Hearst’s Manhattan headquarters and giving each staffer an Apple iPad and personalized leather carrying case.
But that’s not all: Each staffer also walked out with a $10,000 check from the daytime-talk-show queen.
“These were personal gifts to the staff from Oprah to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the magazine,” a Hearst spokeswoman told Ad Age.
